Waterstones Book Signings

Author of Because You Are a Woman and founder of the charity, Women for Change, Jacki Rodikis will be visiting Waterstone's over the next few months as part of a nationwide book-signing and speaking tour.

Jacki is lined up for book signings in Epsom, Chesham on October 18th, Dorchester on November 19th, Finchley 14th January and Trowbridge on January 28th. Two dates have been lined up for Scotland, in Glasgow on November 4th and in Perth on November 5th. She will also be giving an interview at International Women's Day in Bridport, Dorset on March 8th 2012.

Jacki campaigns tirelessly to raise awareness of child sexual abuse and to help other survivors.

"I am very excited about this tour," said Jacki. "I am looking forward to meeting people who may have already read the book, or others who are interested in what still is a delicate subject, who want to find out more - and maybe buy the book!"

Although only on sale for little over a year, Because You Are a Woman has received warm praise from a wide range of readers.

Mary Sutton of KAM Associates Ltd, a therapeutic counselling, supervision and training organisation, said, "I have been gripped by it, moved, saddened, infuriated, and ultimately hugely encouraged. The poetry that intersperses it is a particular gift, a route to the deep feelings attached to the events and people that you have experienced through your life. Thank you so much for daring to do this, and for persisting with it until it was published. I'll be recommending it to our students."

Jacky Cook, editor of Warwickshire Living, was similarly impressed. "A brilliant read, I couldn't put it down. A truly inspirational and strong lady who is using her own experiences to help others."

New book planned

Jacki has started writing her second book which moves on from Because You're A Woman and which she hopes will give women an insight into how she gained self esteem and confidence by linking her experience of assertive training programmes with her faith and knowledge of Jesus' relationship with women.

Speaking Tour

Following on the back of the success of Because You're A Woman and her work with the charities, Women For Change and The Survivors Trust, Jacki is about to embark on a summer speaking tour and book signing to raise awareness of the issues of child abuse.

This follows a similarly successful event held at the Waterstones’ bookstore in historic Stratford-upon-Avon where assistant manager, Jenn Carson, said: “We did an event and signing for Jacki’s book Because You Are a Woman last year that was very successful. We sold 18 copies at the event and 38 to date.”

Earlier this year, Jacki took part in the well-respected Swindon Festival of Literature giving a 40 minute interview on her book and about her life, which was followed by a 20 minute Question & Answer session.

Jacki is planning to write a second book which examines her faith and relationship with God which, she says, has been such a positive force in her healing, self-understanding, and in building the confidence and self-esteem that she previously lacked.

Swindon Literature Festival

Jacki Rodikis' interview on stage at Swindon Festival of Literature 2011 provoked much interesting discussion.

At the two-week 2011 Swindon Festival of Literature, Jacki joined an illustrious speaker list that included Martin Bell, Sally Magnusson, Bonnie Greer, Simon Brett, Peter Sissons and comedian Harry Hill.

Professionals recommend 'Because You're A Woman'

Tutor, Mary Sutton has added the book to the reading list for the CPD Counselling Course at Warwick University as a powerful tool in understanding the deep seated feelings and long term effects of childhood abuse.

"I have been gripped by it, moved, saddened, infuriated, and ultimately hugely encouraged".
